About us

We started because ironing is a solved problem that nobody had solved

Every neighbourhood has someone who presses clothes well. What none of them had was a way to book a time, track an order, or hold anyone to a promise. That gap is the whole business.

The problem we kept running into

Ironing in most Indian cities is unorganised, offline and personal. You take a bundle to a stall, the person there says “evening,” and evening means whatever it means that day. Quality varies with who is at the press. If a shirt comes back scorched, there is no process for that — only an argument.

None of that is a criticism of the people doing the work. They are skilled, and they are cheap because they are competing on price alone. What is missing is the layer around the work: scheduling, tracking, accountability, a receipt.

What we decided to build

Iron On Wheels keeps the convenience of a neighbourhood service and adds the things a business should provide. You book a slot and get a committed window. Your item count is recorded and confirmed at your door. Your order is tagged to one ID and never mixed with anyone else’s. It is quality checked before it comes back. If something goes wrong, there is a person and a policy.

We deliberately kept the scope narrow. At launch we press garments and we prepare sarees. We do not wash. Laundry is a different operation with different equipment and different failure modes, and doing it badly alongside ironing would compromise both. It comes later, when the core runs to the standard we want.

The saree service, and why it matters to us

The Ready-to-Wear Saree Service started as a request we kept hearing from customers who owned beautiful sarees and wore them twice a year, because draping one properly takes time and practice most people no longer have.

Pleating, pinning and pre-stitching turns a twenty-minute ritual into a two-minute one, without changing how the saree looks. It is the part of our work that gets talked about at weddings, and it is the part our staff take most pride in.

How we handle your clothes

The single biggest cause of garment damage is heat applied faster than the fabric can take it. So fabrics are separated at sorting rather than pressed as they come. Cotton and linen take full steam. Silk, chiffon and synthetics get reduced heat and a protective cloth. Zari and embellished work is pressed from the reverse, never over the work. Sarees are pinned with rust-free pins, because ordinary steel pins rust in coastal humidity and rust marks on silk are permanent.

If we find damage that was already there, we photograph it and tell you before we proceed. It is a small thing that costs us a few minutes and saves both sides a conversation nobody enjoys.

What we value

Four things we will not trade away

Respect for your clothes

Your garments carry more than fabric — wedding sarees, a father’s sherwani, a first work shirt. We handle everything as though it cannot be replaced, because often it cannot.

Punctuality as a promise

A delivery window is a commitment, not an estimate. We would rather turn down an order at capacity than take it and miss the window.

Pricing without games

A published rate card, a stated minimum, and no distance charges. If a price changes you will see it before you book, not after.

Answering for our mistakes

We will get things wrong. What we control is what happens next — a person who responds, a policy that applies, and a fix rather than a defence.

In their words

Customers who stayed

I had three wedding functions in one week and no time to drape. They pleated and pre-stitched all four sarees, sent me a photo of each before delivery, and every one of them went on in under two minutes. The pleats held through a full day.
Meera Raghavan Panampilly Nagar · Ready-to-Wear Saree
Five shirts and trousers picked up every Sunday evening, back Monday by lunch. Consistent press, nothing shrunk, nothing mixed up with someone else's clothes. It has quietly removed a whole chore from the week.
Arun Krishnan Kakkanad · Ironing & Pressing
I was nervous about handing over my mother's Kanjivaram. They pressed it from the reverse, used rust-free pins throughout and it came back better than the day I inherited it. That care is why I keep going back.
